Done With My First Book

So over this past week I've finished my first book for independant reading called Stuck In Neutral.
I have to say that I was really REALLY dissapointed with the ending of the book.
It was nothing like I expected... in a bad way.
In my last post I expressed my prediction s for the ending of the book.
I was hoping that Shawn somehow came back into a state where he could move and talk voluntarily.

The ending of the book was when Shawn's dad came into his room and told him how much he loved his son but couldn't live to see another day that he has to struggle.
Shawn really tried his hardest to try and communicate with his father but all he could do was drool.
As the book came into its last pageI was wondering what was going to happen.
The ending seemed to be moving at a snails pace.
In the last half page, Shawn experiences a seizure and thats it...
...

WHAT!!!
You have to be kidding me!
I was sooo hyped up about the ending of the book and it turns out to be like THAT!
Its safe to say that I was thoroughly dissapointed.
I think this could have been a GREAT phenomenal book if the author (Terry Trueman) really gave some insight into his ending.

I understand that people like cliffhangers ( I, not being one of them).
But I think there could have been a way for Mr. Trueman to tell what happens to Shawn and still leave readers with a little wonder.

From now on, I will label books that give uninformed endings as "Soprano Endings".
Do I even have to explain that..?

Well i've read stuck in neutral and I found it a good book. I know what you mean about the ending but i personally liked it even if you always wanted to know more. You said that you wanted a happier ending where shawn could move and talk again but that wouldn;t be very realistic and even if we all want 'happilt ever after' I personally prefer reality. I think it was a very good book and a sad story and if you think about it even though it disapointed you, at least the way I look at it, it was a good ending too.

I haven't read this book yet. I alos don't like cliffhangers. Totally sucks when you are just left with lots of questions afterward. I myself agree with Edith though. The ending had to be real and unfake. Even though it meant that the charachter had a seizure. Sorry your so disappointment. Maybe you should write a strongly worded letter to the author.

I am sorry to hear that the ending of the book was a disappointment, but maybe the author wrote a part two to the bok. I also hate however when an author would leave a cliffhanger that ends up ruining the entire book. Its nice to end a book in mystery and wonder but when the ending goes by quickly without certain questions being answered, it could be disappointing. Good blog entry though :)

Its kinda funny how you talk about the book. I would hate the book if it ended off with a crap ending. A book with a cliffhanger at the end with no sequel really sucks. Anyway I like your blog entry. Too bad it wasn't as great as you wanted it to be. But thats ok. :D

I really wanted to read this book when I read the reviews. It sounds so interesting, and its amazing how someone could still have a positive outlook on life when they can't move or communicate. I read that the author wrote this book because he has a son in the same condition as Shawn in the book. I understand why your disappointed in the ending of the book, but I guess you can't always get a happy ending.

Im glad you enjoyed this book! It would be fun to read about the love of a fatehr and son like you mentioned. But i dont like books that are too confusing and has a difficult plot.

Wow this is one of the books I think i wanna read, even though you told me alot about it. I want to see for myself if there are a handful of unanswered questions at the end, so i will try to read this book.

WoW is that all that happened. THat sucks. I don't like cliffhangers either, well sometimes. but thats not the poinnt. I aagree with you the author could have done sometihng moore like i haven't read this book yet but I figure the person i smentally ill and can't function properly so the authour could have at least made the dad kill the son because he didnt want to see him in pain anymore That would have made it a whole lot better.

>< i dont like cliffhangers either. Liked how you dramatized everything, maybe this book does have some appeal to it. I guess thats why u hate the end ><.

omg I really don't like books that don't give an ending. >:( I hope Shawn lives after the seizure that would make me happy lol. There should be a sequel to this book.
